R. Duane Hendricks

As a painter and as a composer I am always ready for ideas. Painting involves colour, line, shape, and tone. Composing involves melody, harmony, rhythm and timbre. Both involve ideas and inspiration and intellect. Ideally, you will react to my work, vividly seeing one of my paintings when you close your eyes, or absentmindedly humming one of my themes when it wakes you in the middle of the night. My wish is that you will be involved with my work, with what you see, with what you hear.

Art, literature and music are an important part of what it means to be human. The encouragement and development of the imagination that leads to drawing and painting, music and song, poem and story, bring meaning to our lives. As creative people we express and share our experiences and reactions. We are connected to history, to those before us who live or have lived on that ongoing line of creativity and quality. I feel fortunate to be in such good company.
